Tokyo, Japan & Boston, MA, USA – March 4, 2025 – Nanofiber Quantum Technologies, Inc. (NanoQT), a pioneering Japanese technology startup, and QuEra Computing Inc. (QuEra), a U.S.-based leader in neutral-atom quantum computing, today announced a collaborative effort to explore the integration of quantum networking interfaces with neutral-atom Quantum Processing Units (QPUs). This partnership aims to establish a scalable, networked quantum computing architecture, unlocking new possibilities in quantum networking and distributed quantum computing.
Uniting Expertise in Quantum Computing and Networking
The collaboration will leverage QuEra’s established neutral-atom QPU platform as a hardware testbed to integrate and test NanoQT’s quantum networking interface. This integration is part of a broader initiative to co-develop a scalable, networked QPU architecture that combines the technical strengths of both companies to enable novel applications in quantum computing.
NanoQT will bring its quantum networking interface expertise to QuEra’s advanced neutral-atom QPU technology. QuEra will provide access to its hardware testbed, helping to accelerate development toward scalable, networked quantum systems.
We believe that networked QPU architectures will define the next frontier in quantum computing, enabling entirely new applications and operational scales,” said Masashi Hirose, CEO of NanoQT. “Working with QuEra on this project offers us a valuable opportunity to demonstrate the potential of quantum networking in combination with neutral-atom technology.”
Developing a Blueprint for Networked Neutral-Atom QPUs
Under the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), both companies will jointly design and implement an integration testbed.
“Our collaboration with NanoQT is a natural step forward in our mission to unlock the full potential of neutral-atom QPUs by enabling scalable, networked architectures,” commented Takuya Kitagawa, President of QuEra. “Through this partnership, we are well-positioned to develop cutting-edge solutions that will drive forward the capabilities of quantum computing.”
